Project Information

St Andrew's Hospital - PET Scanner and Nuclear Medicine

Project: St Andrews Hospital - PET Scanner and Nuclear Medicine
Client: Queensland Health
Location: Toowoomba, Qld
Value: $3m
Architect: Tony White
Role: Design Architect Principal Consultant

This is another example of a highly technical project successfully resolved by Stephen and Tony. The primary issue with this project was to get the complex and specific patient flows and spaces to work with in a very limited existing space, under an existing building. Furthermore, the design had to accommodate the stringent requirements radiation protection requirements that are associated with these types of facilities. Regular consultations were required with Nuclear Physicists and radiation equipment specialists to ensure that the final design would fit all the required rooms and functions. The PET scanner installation will be the first of its kind in an Australian regional centre. The project is currently under construction.
